For a VPS or Dedicated server, you may register your own nameservers (ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com).
First of all, you’ll have to obtain IP addresses to which you can point your private nameservers.
Now you may check these name servers in Server Welcome email, or you may also contact us and we’ll double check them for you.
After obtaining IPs, you may register nameservers on side of your domain registrar.
Lastly, when nameservers are registered, you’ll have to set them up on server following steps given below:
- Login to WHM and then go to DNS Functions section> Edit DNS Zone menu.
- Choose the domain from drop-down list for which you’d like to set the nameservers for and then click Edit.
- Update SOA record with your primary nameserver and an active email address.
- Now, create A records for ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com pointing to IP addresses you would used while registering nameservers. Then, save these changes.
If you want your personal nameservers to get automatically applied for all newly created cPanel accounts (and required to be set for all add-ons before adding them to cPanel), go to Basic cPanel & WHM setup menu in WHM >> and add your personal nameservers.
Now, DNS changes will propagate within 24-72 hours.
