Each client on-boarding equals one tree planted.
At RackBank, we’re aggressively pursuing ‘Carbon Neutrality’, an eco-conscious step taken towards building a robust green data center that would actively prevent environmental baggage.
With a formidable combination of green energy-efficient measures alongside 100% renewable energy sources resonating with environmental goodwill, we’ve adopted a holistic approach to build INDIA’S FIRST GREEN DATA CENTER.
We’ve taken myriad green initiatives to make our data center green. Our Carbon Neutrality Wing proactively and aggressively engages in accomplishing them.
In this green gesture, we plant a tree sapling by neutralizing carbon emissions produced due to each server deployment on every client on-boarding. We call it Green Server Deployment so that our servers serve clients’ critical business needs without hurting the environment.
In our journey so far, we’ve planted over 80 tree saplings and counting….And our mission is to plant over 4 million saplings by 2020 thereby slashing 4 million tons of carbon per year by leaving not even a single trace of CO2 in the air.
We’ve sourced renewable energy sources like hydropower and solar energy for our power-hungry IT loads, in place of traditional power and cooling systems, that play an instrumental role in curbing data center environmental impacts and minimizing power usage.
We’ve powered our IT equipments with solar panels and have bought them from our third-party solar energy provider. Every 1 MW of solar power would help us save nearly 452 kilotonnes of CO2.
We have a perk of water resources proximity and strong governmental backing, and are thus able to procure hydro energy easily for free water (liquid) cooling.
At RackBank, we’ve deployed advanced virtualization techniques multiplying our server CPU usage by just more than double. This is tantamount to planting 16 trees per server.
We’re able to drop our ambient temperature to 3-5 degrees Celsius below the needed process supply water temperature replacing chillers’ compressors that save 70 per cent power.
By using smart and modern-day energy-efficient tools and off-the-shelf equipments, we’re able to slash our carbon emissions by 88 per cent substituting them by traditional systems and have thereby enhanced our energy management.
We’re adopting revolutionary cloud computing to get our energy consumption nearly halved downsizing servers thereby shunning carbon footprints on a greater scale.

Our efforts to go Carbon-Neutral don’t cease here! We’re constantly exploring innovative practices and novel green technologies to shrink our carbon footprints to least possible level in every-which way we can.
